Welcome to the deep, dark channels of history. The time of the Eocene, starting on a large island named Rue that is slowly sinking into the ocean... racked with earthquakes, tsunamis, and storms.

And most of all, dogs, wolves, weasels, civets, red pandas and cats are one and the same. Welcome, welcome to a different earth, a prehistoric alternate reality. Will you change the world's course forever, and let Carnivora's first species become something different than expected?

We are brand new (open to staff applications!) and expect a few sentences at the least-- preferably a few paragraphs. We allow creation of really zany characters, packs and plots, and give you free way to do almost anything you want! (short of magically blowing up the moon, of course)

Poisonous characters, tiger-striped wolf-like characters, tusks and saber teeth, webbed paws, spots and strange patterns and colors, pretty much everything! You still have to write well though.

Weather:
Variable. It is the season of fall-- or around the dry season for less temperate areas.

The cliff side was crashed against by waves, and there was the ever salty scent of the high tide. It was noon, and the day's rays of light were strong and hardly fragile, but no match for the heat-sapping ferocious winds that banked against the landscape. Gaea peered down, watching the ocean waters that went quite deeply on this eroding part of the land. It seemed every year the cliff retreated little by little, becoming steeper and steeper until it was the jagged death it was now. It wasn't safe to linger on some points, but he made sure his nimble paws stayed on firm ledges, where he could jump back into the vegetation and even drop into a run if he wanted to. He wasn't sure why he had come here, to be frank. The sky was clear and nearly without a cloud for all the ferocity of the sea spray swirling in the air, but he had no interest in swimming. It was just a tad too cold, and the water below not the calmest and best choice for it anyway. No, perhaps he'd come because the joining of the highest peaks of land and the sky and sea seemed very symbolic. Land, sky, and sea, perhaps as it drew himself it would draw others. Avatars.

Gaea was no ordinary prehistoric wolfcat-- while his resembling a dog more than a cat was nothing special, his fur, a vibrant red, was also nothing out of the ordinary, and his body otherwise not very special, his appearance did immediately stick out. For Gaea looked like a shambling, walking mass of green, vines and mosses swirling all around like a thick carpet, barely revealing his mysterious eyes and body. In only a little time, the season of winter would be here, and his greens would wither, but for now, now he looked like the incarnation of an earth spirit itself, an unnatural ghost wolf in the misty spray of the sea cliffs. Truth was, the lupine fellow simply liked to wear plants around himself. But, being a little on the nutty side, he also believed he was an avatar of life, and that there were other avatars. Now, he was searching for them.

Who would he meet? A water spirit? Air incarnate? Rock? Fire? No one?

It had been some time now, since the death of his beloved. It was perhaps this event that had caused him to adopt such strange beliefs-- he was not truly or at least not totally driven insane, but Gaea, the sly creature, had found a certain pleasure in his new system. His affinity with the humble dirt, his hermaphroditic body (Gaea was not truly a male, but both female and male), his odd abilities to sense things that were alive, it was sometimes all too easy to convince some fools he was a god, or at least of great power. But there was also a realization on his part that he did not know of much of the world, and perhaps, just perhaps, not all of this was just a coincidence. Perhaps, there was something truly calling. And now he was testing that theory. If someone came, if he could find the avatars, he would take it as a sign from the earth itself that this path was divinely right. And from there, perhaps, they would forge their path as rulers of this place, led by the wind to conquer here and beyond into the world... And with that power, he could ensure that no pain like the kind that happened to his beloved happened ever again.

The sky and sea seemed to hum agreement, as they appeared in equal, unbroken shades of harmonic blue, reflections of one another. Was that a new scent on the wind? The green dog smirked.

(no magic doesn't mean no mystical beliefs. -grins- His set of beliefs are rather rare but he'll probably try to interpret who he next meets as being one of the avatars. Could be fun if they don't stand for that nonsense.)
